Department of Mechanics for Materials Plasticity and Resource-Saving Processes

Department of Mechanics for Materials Plasticity and Resource-Saving Processes teaches bachelors (4 years) and masters (+2 years) in direction “Engineering mechanics” for specialty “Equipment for Materials Processing with Pressure”.

Research works and training specialists for improvement of the technology and equipment for forming details by plastic deformation has begun in KPI in 1898.

In the first graduation of The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of KPI in 1903 from 10 specialists, which defended their diplomas 3 specialists defended their diplomas in specialty of metal forming.

The Department taught more than 4000 specialists in metal forming. Among graduates of the Department there are academicians, corresponding members of the Academy of science, more than 75 PhD’s, hundreds of heads of state and private enterprises, public servants of higher level.

Today in a department work: 6 professors, 6 associate professors, 2 senior lecturers and 8 assistants.

Our more than 100-year history is the evidence of long-standing traditions, wide experience, high level of teaching, recognition among colleagues and specialists of enterprises and organizations of different branches of Ukrainian industry.

Modern higher education:

Types of study

Full-time – by the state order (without payment) and by the contract.

Part-time (without payment and contract).

Every year the Department recruits a group of students with a qualification level “junior specialist” by the government order and by the contract for bachelor degree in the simplified program (3 years).

- Informational-technical preparing of production in Mechanical Engineering.

- Systems of technology in high-tech manufacturing.

- Creation of nanostructure and composite materials.

- Creation of nanostructured and composite materials.

- Industrial management.

All interested persons can get:

The Master’s degree of common faculty of Mechanical Engineering between NTUU “KPI” and Otto von Guericke University of Magdeburg and to undergo a practical training in Germany.

Second higher education (2-3 years) in directions:

Higher economical education

Higher education in management and marketing.

Military-technical education at the Military Institute of NTUU "KPI".

- Informatics, computer graphics, object-oriented programming

- Computer modeling CAD/CAE and computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) of technological processes      and equipment.

- Design of press-forging equipment and special machines

- Technologies of cold forming and hot forming of constructions of engineering industry.

- Technologies of manufacturing products from plastic and composite materials.

- Control system for industrial equipment, microprocessor technology;

- Mechanics for metal plasticity and alloy plasticity, composite materials and plastic materials

- Economic theory and management in engineering;

- Intellectual property, patent and copyright etc.

After completing study at the university, you get a diploma of higher education of international standard.

The best students, after receiving a master's degree, have the opportunity to start the post-graduate study (term of post-graduate study is 3 years).
